Train smashes into 18-wheeler in Midland, Texas

MIDLAND — Police are investigating after an 18-wheeler stalled out along railroad tracks in Midland and was hit by a train.



According to the City of Midland, the accident was reported near Bankhead and Industrial at 2:20 p.m.

The driver of the truck was able to escape before the crash.

There is no word yet on what caused his truck to stall.l.

One person has been killed following a collision between a taxi and a light vehicle in Ballito, north of Durban, on Saturday afternoon.
In the video, a red car can be seen making a turn at a busy intersection in Ballito, as a taxi speedily approaches the intersection and smashes into the car.
According to a statement released by IPSS medical rescue who were called to the scene, the incident took place on Saturday afternoon.
“It is believed that the taxi was travelling towards the N2 when a light motor vehicle turning right towards the lifestyle centre, collided at the intersection. Following the impact the taxi veered onto the pavement colliding with a pedestrian,” it said.
The medical team reported that a woman was found in a critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries.
“A further four occupants sustained moderate injuries and were transported to hospital for further care.
“A case of culpable homicide is being investigated by Umhlali police.
“The circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation,” said police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele.
